Covid-360 Proposal

What is the PROBLEM?

The problem is that nobody seems to notice how much litter is scattered around, not only Philadelphia, but the entire world. You see it in the streets, both downtown and uptown. The further you move away the worse it gets. Litter kills our wildlife, poisons our water supply and plays a big hand in global climate change.

After the outbreak of Covid-19 everyone was very quick to take the necessary precautions to make sure that they stay clean. The entire world was able to communicate through social media and the internet and came together to prevent against Covid-19. It is selfish human behavior to only take care of yourself without taking care of where you live. Litter is the Covid-19 of the earth. If the same effort of cleansing and precaution were taken to clean up litter as it was to clean up Covid-19, the world will be a much more sustainable environment.

Apart from being a global health issue, litter is also an eyesore. If everyone puts at least a little effort for 1 week to pick up litter there will undoubtedly be a huge difference. I need everyone to look at trash as Covid-360, and pick it up to make the change the world needs.

WHERE (which parts of the world who does it affect)?

Litter is a problem all over the world. However, in more densely populated areas, litter is more prominent and a much more noticeable problem. Litter from big cities flies all over the world, Infecting the planet in its path. The mentality of Covid-360 should be communicated everywhere, but it would do best in highly populated cities.

WHO are the stakeholders?

The stakeholders would be all living creatures. What is being talked about is not a matter of if litter is going to destroy the earth, it’s just a matter of when.

Everyone needs to take global heath into account because if they don’t, they will have more things to worry about other than COVID-19

What is your SOLUTION(objective)?

My solution to global litter is to get people just as afraid as litter, as they are of Covid-19. Litter is something that needs to be eradicated from this earth. I plan to get a message communicated to my audience that influences people to pick up trash whenever they see it.

Here is a way one woman does her best to pickup litter

If that is too much I would like to influence everyone to pick up 5 pieces of litter and keep conscious of where they are discarding their garbage.

What forms of MEDIA do you plan to employ and how will you use them to ENGAGE your audience?

I plan to target a college level audience on social media. For this plan to be successful it needs as many social media users on it as possible. Through the “Covid-360” I plan to use scary but informative messaging that shows what could happen if we don’t clean up. I would also want to start a #Covid-360 campaign that way others can see how many are helping clean up with the Covid-360 movement. So please, if you have some time, create a post of you picking up some litter and use #Covid360 on any social media.

What are the TIMELINES for your campaign and finally a final PRODUCT of the campaign?

By the end of the first month, I would want to have 500 users reposting content under the #Covid-360 movement. After there is a solid base following that is established, I will continue to source the movement with articles highlighting the importance of cleaning up litter.

Its not too hard to pickup litter, just be a good person and do it! Video credit to No Litter Generation
