BigBoyDrum x Donn Blacc

We got the chance to work with Big Boy Drum prior to the Covid-19 outbreak as one of our last shows on The Philly 60 for the shortened season. He previewed his new single Mayday, which unfortunately did not make it onto the Apple Music release of RAGER TAPES. It was one of the harder songs off the extended SoundCloud version of the project. It was also featured as one of DSM’s songs of the week. I’ve given this project three full listens before writing my review. Rager Tapes is a collaboration project between BigBoyDrum and Donn Blacc released under NLB Records.

Rating: 6 out of 10.

Feds Outside

Feds Outside is the first track off the project and it gives light into what you should expect throughout the album. Singing, rapping and ghostly ad libs find their home in this track. I am unaware who produced the song, but the beat was fire and BBDrum and Donn Blacc spit well on the song. I liked Drum’s line about KD and D’Angelo Russell. Also the production that muffled their voice and made it sound distorted like a monster was a very good touch. 


“Me and all my homies popping up like we ISIS” was a fire bar to start the track. The catchy chorus was great. The humming in the track got a little annoying in my opinion. I liked Donn’s verse and the call and response approach taken on the back half of the song. Added some good variation to the track. The guitar sample on the beat was fire. 

Love Me Now

What intrigued me about this song was how the piano and the drum had a polyphonic feel, meaning both the drum and piano sounded like the main melody. The duo are talking about love on this track, obviously by the title, but give a more modern approach to the feeling. Talking about sliding in DMs and such. Which could also be confused with lust. 


Casket is a slap. Other than MayDay and Feds Outside this was my favorite song off the project. The energy in the intro is great. Drum’s ability to make a melody with his voice before the drums come in was a really cool touch. I wish the drums hit a bit harder, the 808s are nice but a heavy kick could have been better. This song only features Drum, but I think Donn is doing some of the ad-libs. This song goes hard. 

Vest On

I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t really like this song. The chorus was good and catchy by Donn Blacc but the verses were just ok. So far this was my least favorite song off the album. 

Super Bowl

Super Bowl was another high energy song off the project. Which I think is another major selling point for the track. The transition between Drum and Donn was solid, they both followed each other’s flows really well. This is another example of the duo writing really good hooks. I don’t want to say the hook completely saved the song but the verses, while they sounded good, didn’t add much lyrically. 


This beat was a major switch up. I really like the slow rapping/singing by Donn following Super Bowl. I was waiting for a slowish song on the album and this was a nice place for it. The production on this song is high-key fire. It is spacy and seems like nothing is correlated, but it works really well. I wish Drum would have followed Donn’s flow on this or did something similar, at least for this kind of beat. The beat was crazy and fast rapping over it kinda took away from the production. This song easily has the most potential off the entire project. Donn killed this track. I would love to hear this song as a full length song by Donn and a slower verse by Drum.


I feel like this song was inspired by Runaway’s outro by Kanye West and a bit of Travis Scott. I really liked the idea; You don’t hear much of it in SoundCloud rap and the execution was great. I just don’t think it fit well on this song. This outro could have been fire on Freeze.


This song grew on me a lot. I really didn’t like it on my first couple listens, but on my third a switch flipped. Donn does a really good job of showing emotion in his lyrics and delivery. BBDrum also had a good verse to build off Donn. The Outro was fire, the production weaves a few piano keys on top of the ominous instrumental and sounded great. 


The trumpet in the instrumental was nice, I believe that’s one of the only trumpet samples on the project. Drum and Donn both pair very well. Drum rapping fast and Donn’s slower R&B juxtaposed each other well on this song. 

Overall, As my first experience listening to both artists I really liked the project. It was a breath of fresh air after my reviews of Rich The Kid and Comethazine. While there are things that could be improved on this album, like lyrics, song order, and switching verses on songs; The project was a good listen. BigBoyDrum I already knew about, but Donn Blacc popped on my radar and I’ll definitely be looking out for new projects by both guys. Rating wise I’d give it a 6/10. The album is very creative in production sense and had great hooks but lyrical verses were a little lacking. Good showing by the two. 

PANDEMIC – Comethazine Review

The St. Louis native Comethazine began to make waves in the rap scene with his tracks titled “Walk” and “Bands”. Bands went viral on Tik Tok and introduced Comethazine to the mainstream. He is often memed on Twitter and IG for being crazy, which from videos you can see this man is definitely interesting, as seen in his music video directed by Cole Bennett. I didn’t come across Comethazine until right before he dropped Bawskee in 2018. I along with one of my best friends, Kris, were hooked on the dude. He is able to weave creative lyricism on ominous trap beats giving him a very intimidating sound. Bawskee 2, dropping in early 2019, had songs like “Nonsense”, “Demar Derozan”, and “How Do You Do?” which were all fire. Then later in 2019, he released Bawskee 3.5 with songs like “Dangerous”, “Hench Mafia” and “Solved The Problem.” On his song Dangerous he has one of my favorite lines off that project being, “UberEATS is arriving in ten, bitch, I’m high with the munchies. Shoutout to Popeyes for keepin’ it crunchy”  That bar is fire. Cometh kept up this same caliber of lyricism on his 2020 release titled “Pandemic”. The 20 minute project is a quick listen but was a lot to unpack. 

Rating: 7.5 out of 10.

No Front – Comethazine (Prod. ChildBoy)

The premier track of the project sucks you into the album with an ominous trap beat and a steady flow by Comethazine. The first bar says Comethazone is speaking the truth and not fronting about what’s in his music. Flaunting his wealth creatively by saying, “Filet Mignon, Crab well done.” Unlike the recent project I reviewed by Rich The Kid, Comethazine isn’t just saying he’s gonna buy a Benz Truck every other verse. Although he’s saying the same principle, he says it in this intelligent way. This type of rhyming, imagery, and style is unique to Comethazine. Being the first track it is setting the stage for the other metaphor and simile he uses later on in the album.

Mama’s Glizzy – Comethazine (Prod. ChildBoy)

A “glizzy” is another name for a Glock handgun if you didn’t know. Cometh talks about buying his mother a gun on this track. Thinking deeper into the chorus in this song we can see that this is another creative way he is describing his wealth. Buying his mom a gun for protection could mean she needs it for protection. Maybe because of her son’s wealth or the content of his bars could bring violence to his family. 

Permanent – Comethazine (Prod. ChildBoy)

Easily my favorite track off the project. The third line on this song is fire, “Pop out in Diego, with Sandy no Spongebob.” Just a different breed of lyricism in this line with his play on words with San Diego. The drone in the beat and Comethazine’s rapid flow give the track a fire vibe. He also talks about being the greatest, comparing himself to Biggie and TuPac. This is a little bit of a reach cause he isn’t at that caliber yet. However, his line about convertibles has some crazy juxtaposition, i’ll let you listen to on your own. 

Ambitions – Comethazine (Prod. ChildBoy)

Comethazine humbles himself on this track. In the Intro, he talks about his prior life of trapping and the price of the bail. He then says he gave his life to rapping rather than “Brick Tossin’.” There isn’t really much more to say about this song, it’s short and straight forward.

Blu-Ray – Comethazine (Prod. div & Toom)

The title of this song comes from one of the funniest bars of the entire project in my opinion. Part of the chorus is “Yo bitch see D in her face, I nicknamed her Blu-Ray.” Comparing a woman to a Blu-Ray disc cause she “sees D” is a very creative way to say your girl is for the streets. I also think Comethazine has a very catchy flow on this track and rides the beat very well. And this bar “I park in the handicapped spot ’cause there ain’t a fine I can’t pay, Used to take ankles on blacktops, hoped to be a baller one day, ayy.” These lines come together to create some of the most unique lyrics off the entire project.

Pitbull – Comethazine (Prod. ChildBoy)

This was one of my least favorite songs off the project. I didn’t really like the beat, it was a minimalist trap beat and didn’t really add any flavor to the song. I don’t really have anything else to say on this one. 

Get Out – Comethazine (Prod. div)

“Spent 500 bucks on a tint, it’s darker than dude from Get Out.” In reference to Daniel Kaluuya in Jordan Peele’s award-winning film, Comethazine says his window tint is darker than the black actor. I found this very funny. His chorus asks his fans to spark a blunt and hold up their guns if they are listening. I did one of those while listening and ya boy does not own a strap. Other than the unique Get Out line, this was a typical Comethazine trap song. It was solid. 

Nutted – Comethazine (Prod. Myles William, Flip_00, and div)

Comethazine is speaking to all his male listeners on this song as he raps about post-nut clarity, a time for all men where everything looks a little more clear. He talks about having a relationship with a woman then realizing she isn’t the one for him. He says he sounds picky, he can be it’s his life. 

LEAD THE RACE – Comethazine (Prod. ChildBoy)

This beat is HARD. His lyrics are HARD. This whole song is fire. This bar, “Came a long way from eatin’ the pot pie Now I pull up and cash out on Popeyes W-w-wish I saw life through my pops’ eyes He was a real OG with mob ties He even shot, stabbed and robbed guys Participated in a lot of drive-bys.” I really like the flow he has on these few lines. Again he is reaffirming himself saying everything he raps about is true. If his father was doing all these things, Comethazine probably saw a lot of this and made him mimic his father’s actions. The outro lets the beat play where it cuts out and does a little stutter. An aspect of producing I’ve come to like a lot. You see it on Shotta Flow by NLE Choppa. It adds a nice touch to the production.

Glide – Comethazine (Prod. ChildBoy)

Another standard trap song in my opinion. He does mention some shoes in this song like CP3 13s and 1’s. He also says his fitness plan consists of running to the racks meaning he sees himself as driven by money. 

Plottin’ – Comethazine (Prod. ChildBoy)

On this track, Comethazine is talking directly to his haters and how they are plotting against him, but he has an AK for protection. Meaning if anyone has beef with him they’ll get theirs. Knocking them out of his outfit with his XD. Cometh does not appreciate the slander against his name and this track shows it. 

Gallardo – Comethazine (Prod. div)

Gallardo is the specific type of Lamborghini Comethazine is rapping about. He also mentions his desire to get with Demi Lovato, someone he referenced in one of his older albums. The Italian car as the name of the track sets up Comethazine to talk about Hench Mafia, his label and “mafia” is associated with the Italian Mob. He even talks about the danger of promethazine, where he gets his moniker, and still drinks the drug regardless of the side effects. This is the last song off the album and is a great closer to the project. 

Comethazine showcased his creativity on his debut studio album. While I don’t think there will be many mainstream hits other than maybe Permanent and No Front, that doesn’t mean this was a bad album at all. I really liked this project, not as much as Bawskee 2, but I loved the creativity in his lyrics and flows throughout the project. Also, ChildBoy made some textbook trap instrumentals for the album, with the standout being LEAD THE RACE. I’d give this album a 7.5/10.

BOSS MAN – Rich The Kid Review

Rich The Kid’s third 19 track studio album titled “BOSS MAN”, released by Rich Forever Music and Republic Records, was an album I was waiting on for a while. While I’m not the biggest fan of Rich’s complete discography, songs like Splashin’, Plug Walk, New Freezer, Woah and Racks Today have become some of my all time favorites across hip-hop. I was going into this project expecting your average Rich the Kid project. Good trap and R&B production on his tracks with Rich’s cartoonish voice creating catchy melodies. BOSS MAN’s opening song was out of left field. Forcing me to erase all his previous projects from my memory and listen to this work with a clean slate. This album was overshadowed by releases by Lil Uzi Vert and The Weeknd. Here are my opinions on some tracks off the album. I did skip a couple songs because I didn’t feel like they added to the album.

Far From You – Rich The Kid (prod. Austin Powerz & Reske)

  • This is the song I mentioned in my opening. Far from home begins with someone flicking a lighter probably sparking a wood. Accompanied by a piano melody and vocal sample Rich then enters with his first verse talking about his doubters and praying for better days. Implying that Rich’s come up was far from smooth. He name drops Kevin Gates in the first verse, paying respects to his 2014 hit “I Don’t Get Tired”. He then shows his displeasure with the labels in the industry. Saying “That n***** gave away his soul, he signed the last page.” Meaning signing to a label could be like selling your soul to the devil. Labels have been a controversial issue in the Rap industry for a while. Mostly for limiting artist freedom and when they can or can’t release music to their fans. Even with these lyrics of course Rich has to flaunt his new found wealth and success, a theme we see throughout this project. This song was one of my favorites off the album because it doesn’t sound like a typical Rich The Kid song. It also has a bag undertone at least making me listen closer to the lyrics.

Stuck Together – Rich The Kid(Ft. Lil Baby) [prod. Dre Moon & DY Krazy]

  • Music Mogul, Zane Lowe, has always said the second track off an album decides whether a listener will actually lock in to the project. Rich’s second song samples Dreamville’s Costa Rica for the beat. Along with a great Lil Baby feature, Rich and Baby kill it on this track. While this isn’t a banger, it’s perfect to listen to with a group of friends during a pre game or kick back. The two heavyweights have a call and response through the whole track. Matching each other’s flows, for the most part, allows this song to succeed. They rap with confidence throughout the whole song making for a great second song off the project. 

Ray Charles – Rich The Kid (Prod. Rich The Kid & Beat by Jeff)

  • Ray Charles is the third track on the project paying homage to the famous late pianist and singer. The track opens with a catchy trumpet sample. Two lines off this song that stuck out to me were: “I don’t see y’all n*****s like a blind man” and “In the trap, hit ’em with the frying pan He ain’t got no heart like the Iron Man.” The first bar plays into the title of the song because Ray Charles was in fact blind. Also implying that Rich is in his own lane and the people doing work around him are invisible. Then the Iron Man bar was really clever. The Marvel superhero famously does not have a heart. Rich compares people with no heart to the superhero. This line made me rewind the song the first time I heard it and made me laugh. Very solid third song.

Sick – Rich The Kid (ft. DaBaby) [Prod. 1Mind & Smash David]

  • This song was forgettable even with a DaBaby feature. Rich also gave an average verse on this track. The only plus to the song was the beat. The kicks accompanying what sounds like an electric piano is hard and sets an ominous mood. DaBaby’s verse was mids. He used the trademark DaBaby flow making it sound like he wasn’t even trying on the song. This is another example of a bad DaBaby feature on someone else’s track. This is a skip for me on what could have been a dope track, but ended up with a wasted feature.

Not Sorry – Rich The Kid (ft. Nicki Minaj) [Prod. Smash David]

  • This track begins with Nicki Minaj saying “Rich The Ken and Barbie”. Barbie being Nicki’s moniker on her Instagram was an intentional comparison to the popular Ken and Barbie kids toys. Rich keeps the barbie idea at the beginning of the chorus and ends it with a funny Maury name drop. The first verse by Rich was hard. Nicki’s verse didn’t really make me feel a specific way. Other than the imagery of her ass, there wasn’t anything special in this feature other than a catchy flow. 

Red – Rich The Kid (Prod. Beat By Jeff)

  • Red was a single dropped by Rich a few weeks back so I won’t go into it that much. This is one of the few party bangers off the album in my opinion. Great beat by Beats by Jeff, who has been one of the standouts from this album.

V12 – Rich The Kid (Ft. Post Malone) [Prod. Post Malone]

  • V12 is a slapper. Post Malone’s feature on this song is top tier. Also the song is produced by Post and the track goes hard. My favorite bar off the track was by Rich saying “Walk around with two chains like I’m Tity Boy.” This line pays respect to 2 Chainz who famously went by Tity Boi early on in his career before rebranding himself to his current name. Rich also flaunts his wealth a lot on this track, I mean the chorus is V6 or V12 so obviously it’s a more braggadocious track. 

Depend On Me – Rich The Kid (Ft. Lil Tjay) [Prod. Marcel Korkutata and Murda Beatz]

  • This track Rich talks about all the people who depend on him now that he made it big. The Murda Beatz instrumental is hard and the feature by Lil Tjay adds some variance to the album. At this point the album was getting a little stale, but we gotta power through regardless. 

Easy – Rich The Kid (prod. CuBeatz and AXL Beats)

  • Rich has a rapid fire flow on this track riding the flow of the instrumental to perfection in my opinion. There isn’t much substance to this track but was up there as one of my favorites off the album. He has high energy, which I think is where Rich finds a lot of success. 

You – Rich The Kid (Prod. Tenroc and KC Supreme)

  • You, much like Far From You, is another slower bag song off the project. The filtered guitar melody in the instrumental is played in a key that makes your mood go down. Interesting look into Rich’s need for love and a woman. Rich is saying he has the perfect idea of a woman in his mind and he’s ready to do or spend whatever is needed to get or find her. Much like Far From You this doesn’t really sound like a Rich The Kid song.

Racks On (Ft. YoungBoy Never Broke Again) [Prod. DY Krazy and Beat By Jeff]

  • Racks On is the first feature from YoungBoy, who has seen wild success in the past few years. One thing about YoungBoy that I appreciate a lot is how he distributes his music. A lot is dropped on YouTube for free and doesn’t make his fans listen through a streaming platform they have to pay for. Also YouTube allows for ad revenue on top of pay per view meaning he’s making more money off music he would only release on streaming. Which is why his spot on Racks On fits perfectly. 

I Want Mo – Rich The Kid & London on da Track (Prod. Carter Lang, Westen Weiss, VanRiper and London on da Track)

  • London on da Track kills the instrumental for this track. It’s bouncy and makes you vibe, partnered with Rich’s flow pair well to create a slapper. He references Kodak Black’s internet meme “lemme drive da boat” in the chorus which made me instantly like the song. Up there for one of the best off the entire project. Rich talks about wanting more even though he has already made it in many people’s eyes. This isn’t enough for the young artist. HE WANTS MORE. 

That’s Tuff (ft. Quavo) [Prod. Mario Peterson, LNKmusic and Dee Money]

  • That’s Tuff is basically a track where Rich and Quavo flex on all of us. They talk about their Baguettes and Rolls-Royces. The pair used to live together before they were famous trapping out of abandoned houses, but now both are rich looking back on their past. It’s a solid Quavo spot on the album and gives great name recognition on the track. My only thing is the chorus got a little annoying after a few listens.

Money Talk – Rich The Kid (Ft. YoungBoy Never Broke Again) [Prod. DY Krazy]

  • The final track off the project was a single already released by the pair. It is one of the most memorable songs off the album. YoungBoy gives a great hook and the acoustic guitar instrumental pairs incredibly well with the duo. The song is carried by YoungBoy in my opinion. Rich doesn’t have a very strong verse, but it isn’t bad by any means. 

All in all, BOSS MAN was a solid project. Other than some lackluster features by DaBaby and Nicki Minaj the project had some top tier appearances by YoungBoy, Lil Baby, Post Malone and Quavo. While there aren’t many songs that will be mainstream hits, fans of trap music will like this album. Rich tries new ideas on this album, like the intro track, which work very well. I would be interested to see a R&B EP by Rich because he showcases his singing on BOSS MAN and it sounds good. The production on the album is a major standout. Beat by Jeff and DY Krazy had great showings. All in all I would give this album a 8/10. While there were many standouts, the album seemed to drag on. Some songs could have been cut, but ultimately it wasn’t bad.

My name is Nick Tuverson and I am a Sophomore Advertising Major at Temple University’s Klein College of Media and Communication.

Last year I partnered with my current business partner, Erik Coombs, and began pushing Deep Streets Media to where it is today.

Through the art of networking I have had the pleasure of working with some emerging stars, big name artists, and many different people in the industry. Some of which include Dave East, Yvng Swag, Mr. Swipey, Dyl Rhodes, Yellow Zoo and Project 2one5.

I began shooting for Deep Streets Media’s The Philly 60 and have done other work partnered with Route Runna Management.

I am skilled in photography, advertising and writing.

DSM, for me, is a space where I can be creative and help others be creative as well. Art and Music are one in the same, DSM has helped me weave the two together.
